Part-time sports writer/photographer for a weekly, The Madison Press, The Free Press in Geneva, The Daily Sentinel-Tribune in Bowling Green, and The BG News at BGSU. Began career at age 16.
 
1972-1980
The Star-Beacon in Ashtabula. Promoted from Sports Writer to Sports Editor, General News Reporter, City Hall Reporter, Chief Photojournalist, County Editor and City Editor.
 
1980-1982
The Cleveland Press. General Assignment Reporter, Energy and Environmental Reporter, then covered 13 suburbs in SW Cuyahoga County.
