Nov. 20: Holistic fair set in Westlake
We can talk 1-on-1 at a holistic fair from 10 am-6 pm Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Unity Spiritual Center, Westlake.
Enter a drawing. You could win either a free hypnosis session, or a discount on your first session. The event includes at least 6 readers, 26 vendors and presentations every hour. Some vendors may be new to you, and many are returning after many events with us.
From 10-11 am, I will present. Everyone who attends will have an opportunity to experience hypnosis.
Admission is free, please bring a non-perishable food item.
In recent years, these events were produced by Harmonic Journeys at the West Shore United Unitarian Church in Rocky River. Because of COVID, that facility is still closed to us, so the event has moved -- at least for now.
Nov. 22-23: See comedy hypnosis
Hypnosis can be a great form of entertainment, Mike Oddo performs comedy hypnosis at 8 p.m. Nov. 22-23, at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, just a short drive from the Broad Street exit of Rt. 8.

Myth-of-the-Month: Revelation of Secrets
I will celebrate my birthday in December, with an annual gift to the community. To help those who have financial issues, I offer five 1-on-1 stress reduction sessions during the month. For each session, pay what you can afford, at least $20 to cover facility rental. All sessions are at West Park Massotherapy.

Myth: While in hypnosis, you can be forced to reveal secrets about yourself and others.
Fact: “Hypnosis is not a truth sermon.” Clients are aware of everything while being hypnotized. They can talk if necessary, but they can fib just as easily.
You don't have to study for these tests
She asked 'Can you teach me hypnosis?'
As a young child growing up in a rural town, hypnosis fascinated me. The local library had only one book on hypnosis, and I read it several times each year. Later, in college and beyond, I attended as many hypnosis performances as I could.
So, when a 13-year-old girl approached me at an event on Oct. 3, she got my full attention.
"Excuse me, sir," she said politely. "Can you teach me how to hypnotize someone? I have read all the books, and watched all the YouTube videos, but I still need someone to teach me."
Because of my early interest in hypnosis, I appreciate where she is coming from. We talked for a while about hypnosis, and she is very bright. I also talked with her mother at the event. We will discuss it further, after Mom and Dad discuss it at home. Perhaps the girl would like to browse my personal library of more than 50 hypnosis books.
Bottom line: I am not certified to teach hypnosis to persons of any age, but I salute her healthy curiosity, and hope she keeps it alive.
I did not become certified until I was 50+. I regret waiting so long.
Hypnotists often use tests, sometimes called "waking hypnosis", to work with clients before starting the trance. The tests are fun, and give the clients a taste of the hypnosis experience.
The tests help the hypnotist gauge the focus, suggestibility and imagination of the client. I offer these tests free to people who stop by my vendor table at holistic events, such as the one coming up on Nov. 20.
At an Oct. 3 event, one woman was really impressed after taking the tests. She said "WOW" 5 times, and called them "weird" and "interesting."
More than 500 people attended an event on Oct. 3. About 80 people stopped at my vendor table, and 30 signed up for a drawing for a free hypnosis session.
